What's been going on with Moving on up????

So I haven't been blogging. I have too much anxiety. I've worked at my company for 2 1/2 years. My last review said I exceeded expectations. Then my company fired most of the managers, fired a 1/3 of the company and are still firing at least one person every week or two. Then, out of the blue, I had a review that said I suck at my job. I almost quit on the spot, but i remained at the job thinking someone was just having a bad day. I was hired for one job then they changed my job description. A lot else has happened at my company, but it will take me several hours to describe. Let's just say I was written up for things I haven't even learned how to do yet.

So yesterday I was "suspended" for my job and sent home for two days unpaid. I have been so depressed lately and have thought about upping my dose of antidepressants. I am suspended until Monday.

You need to fight back: start keeping track of when they abruptly changed course on your job performance. This type of behavior is very common these days. They start giving bad reviews and trying to get the person to quit so they don't have to pay them unemployment and etc.

Seriously, it just sounds odd if they're saying you're doing badly after they gave you a good review.

Unbelievable! I know Dog Ate My Finance went through something similar. It's so discouraging to hear companies doing this to their own employees.

OMG!! Make sure you document things too-sounds like if they let you go they are going to try to fight unemployment. Maybe respond to the "charges" with a detailed rebuttal letter and send it to your boss certified. You are worth so much more than some crappy job evaluation-especially if you already know they are wrong. I hope everything works out for you.

Yes, keep track of everything! My first husband got laid off/let go several times and whenever that happened, I would go to my companies personnel office and ask for help. They said that most companies deny the first unemployment claim as a standard...and that most employees who fight that first denial end up winning. Of course, this was several years ago. A few years ago I thought I was defined by my job and/or lack of it...went to therapy...your reaction is normal but don't let it ruin your whole month. We are here for you!

I am so sorry to hear about your job situation. It sounds like things are not good with the company in general and I wonder how personally you should take it. However, upping your meds in the meantime might not be a bad idea until things blow over. Does your job cover your insurance? I'd take advantage while you still have it! I hope things will lead you to a better job or more improved situation at work.
